About Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)
The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Delhi.
As per National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) regulations, Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for class I to VIII.
Candidates should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate State Governments in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE.
There will be two (2) papers of CTET.

- • Child Development and Pedagogy Paper will focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning, relevant to the age group of 6-11 & 11-14 years. years.
- • Language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction.
- • Language II will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.
- • Language II will be a language other than Language I.
Exam Shift and Time
- Shift I: 09:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon
- Shift II: 02:30 P.M. to 05:00 P.M.
Mode of Examination
OMR-Based (Offline)
Qualifying Marks & Award of CTET Certificate
A person who scores 60% or more will be considered as TET pass
The medium of Question Paper
Main question paper shall be Bilingual (Hindi/English). Language I & II will be candidates' choice.
Total Time Duration
- For Non-PwD Candidates: 150 Minutes
- For PwD Candidates: 60 Minutes
Note: - Compensatory time for PwD Candidates of 20 minutes per hour of examination.
Validity Period of CTET Certificate
lifetime for all categories
Important Note:
- • Each question carries 01 (One) marks
- • For each correct response, the candidate will get 01 (one) marks
- • There will be no negative marking
- • No marks will be given for questions un-answered/un-attempted/marked or Review
- • To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as correct option
- • Main question paper shall be Bilingual (Hindi/English)
- • Candidates are required to answer in the medium as per option exercised in the Application Form and on screen
- • In case of any ambiguity in translation/construction of a question in the exam, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of CBSE shall be final in this regard
Eligibility & Age Limit Criteria for CTET
- • PAPER - I Senior Secondary passed with (appearing or passed in) diploma in education or equivalent qualification as prescribed by NCTE.
- • PAPER - II Graduation passed with (appearing or passed in) degree in education or equivalent qualification as prescribed by NCTE.
- • There is No Age restriction.
