About Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) & Graduate Teachers / Block Resource Teacher Educators (BRTE)
- • The main objective of TRB is to ensure a free, fair, transparent recruitment and select talented candidates for teaching service.
- • To keep up with technology, TRB has switched to computer-based testing (CBT).
- • The TRB was created in 1987 to recruit teachers quickly so students have them in time. Since 1990, it has also been responsible for selecting teachers for colleges, technical education, and legal education departments in Tamil Nadu.
- • Post of Graduate Teachers / Block Resource Teacher Educators (BRTE) in School Education and other Departments will be called as Tamil Nadu School Educational Subordinate Service.
- • Candidates should possess a valid Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test Certificate. (TNTET Paper – II)
Scheme & Pattern of UG-TRB Eligibility Test
Stage - I: Compulsory Tamil Language Eligibility Test (Part-A)
Stage – II: Written Examination (Objective OMR Based) (Part-B)
Stage – III: Final Certificate Verification
Part - A
Obtaining a minimum of 40% of total marks in Part - A examination (minimum qualifying marks) is only eligible for the next level of evaluation of the Part – B answer sheet.

Language subjects will be respective languages. Other subjects will be in English & Tamil only.
Total Time Duration
- For Non-PwD Candidates: Part-A 30 Minutes & Part-B 180 Minutes
- For PwD Candidates: Part-A 30 Minutes & Part-B 240 Minutes
Note: - Compensatory time for PwD Candidates of 20 minutes per hour of examination.

Important Note:
- • Each question carries 01 (one) marks in Section A
- • For each correct response, the candidate will get 01 (one) mark in Section A
- • There will be No Negative marking
- • No marks will be given for questions un-answered/un-attempted
- • To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as correct option
- • In case of any ambiguity in translation/construction of a question in the exam, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of TRB shall be final in this regard
Eligibility & Age Criteria for UG-TRB
- • Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) (or)
- • Graduation with at least 50% marks and bachelor's in education (B.Ed.) (or)
- • Graduation with at least 45% marks and bachelor's in education (B.Ed.), in accordance with the NCTE (or)
- • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) (or)
- • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. (or)
- • Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed., (Special Education)
- • Must have obtained a degree or its equivalent with such Subjects or Languages in respect of which recruitment is made
- • Pass in Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) Paper – II with relevant optional subject for direct recruitment
- • The Candidates must have obtained a Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education / a Graduation and Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.)/ Higher Secondary and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) /Higher Secondary and 4 - Year B.A.Ed. / B.Sc.Ed. / a Graduation and B.Ed., (Special Education) after completion of S.S.L.C., Higher Secondary Course or its equivalent (10+2+3+2 or 10+2+3+1 or 10+2+4 or 10+3+3+2 or 10+3+3+1 or 10+3+4) pattern as required under TN Act, 2016) and a B.Ed., degree from any University or Institution, recognized by the University Grants Commission.
Age Criteria for UG-TRB
- • Upper Age Limit for General Category is 53 Years and SC, SC(A), ST, BC-M, BC, MBC/DNC and Destitute Widow of all Category is 58 years.
Reservation rules for UG-TRB
- • A minimum of 30% of the total vacancies will be reserved horizontally for Women candidates.
- • 20% of horizontal reservation shall be allotted to Persons Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) candidates.
- • 4% horizontal reservation shall be allotted to Differently Abled Persons candidates.

- • Transgender candidates who do not possess any community certificate may choose to be considered under Most Backward Classes.
